「九品仏」の名で親しまれる九品山唯在念佛院淨眞寺（浄真寺） は、地元民から観光客まで多くから愛されるお寺です。江戸時代初期の開山当時からほぼ変わらず現在に至る、広々とした境内には、9体の阿弥陀仏像が安置されています。高さ2メートル８０センチ前後もあるこれらの大きな仏像は、開山珂碩（かせき）上人により、なんと40年以上もの歳月をかけた後、１６６７年に完成した素晴らしい文化財です。
「九品仏」は３棟のお堂に安置された、９体の阿弥陀仏像のことを指します。境内は銀杏や桜、楓などの立派な木々が生い茂り、歩きながら森林浴ができるほどです。

九品仏淨眞寺と奥澤神社は互いに隣接しています。一方は仏教、もう一方は神道の信仰に基づく聖域ですが、それぞれ年中行事を行うところに地域の繋がりを感じます。
長い年月の間守られてきた仏閣の厳かさに触れ、私たちのまちあるきにも特別なパワーが注ぎ込まれました。コロナ禍でも、神聖な儀式や祈祷の数々で境内は多忙な為、総門までつづく参道にて、まちあるき開催許可を頂きました。この並木が美しい200メートル程の参道は、淨眞寺と九品仏商店街を結びます。近所に住む人々で賑わう場所です。

The Kuhonbutsu Joshinji Temple and the nearby Okusawa Shrine, though one is buddhist and the other is shinto, are tied together through cyclical religious festivals.
The sacredness of these sites, accrued over centuries, imbued our walks with even greater power. Because the temple grounds are in high use for holy events, even during COVID, we were given permission to walk along the promenade leading to the temple’s main central gates. This 200 meter tree-lined walkway connects the temple to the Konhunbutsu shopping street. It’s well-used by the local community.
