都内有数の広大な敷地面積を誇る、緑豊かな砧公園の一角に位置する世田谷美術館。子供からお年寄りまでが、木陰の涼しいサイクリングロードやくねくねと続く散歩道、見渡す限りの芝生へ散策に訪れます。四季折々の、表情の変化を堪能できる場所です。

世田谷区で展覧会開催を決めたのは、この場所がオリンピック・パラリンピック米国選手団のホストタウン登録されたからです。選手団のトレーニングキャンプは美術館からほど近い場所にあります。ですが、前年ながらコロナ禍の影響で選手団との交流は断念せざるを得ませんでした。

Setagaya Museum is nestled in Kinuta Park, one of Tokyo's few expansive green spaces.  Young and old enjoy its gorgeous tree-shaded boulevards, rambling paths and sprawling lawns.  Each season brings a new kind of beauty.

We chose to exhibit in Setagaya since it was the official Olympic ‘home city’ for Team USA.  Their practice gymnasium was close to the museum.  Unfortunately, our original plans to connect with Team USA couldn’t be realized because of the pandemic.

展覧会期間中の毎週土曜日に、「声の記念碑」を展示ギャラリーから美術館前広場へ運び、歩くパフォーマンスを行いました。記念碑から流れる「音の俳句」と、広場の木々から響く蝉の音が美しく重なり合いました。

Each Saturday during our exhibition, we held processions with the ‘Koe No Kinen Hi’ Voice Monuments from the gallery and into the museum’s plaza.  The summer’s cicadas humming blended  beautifully with the sonic haiku.
